The National Council on Climate Change Indonesia coordinates the Indonesia Climate Change Day 2012 as part of Indonesia’s continuous soft diplomacy in addressing climate change. It consists of a one-day seminar and a two-day exhibition displaying progress undertaken in managing climate change challenges and opportunities. Indonesia Climate Change Day & Exhibition will showcase domestic policies, programs and concrete actions that have been carried out by indonesian stakeholders. It will also show a good partnership among Indonesian stakeholders and international communities in responding to the enormous threat of climate change.
The eighteenth session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 18) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the eighth session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP 8)- will be held on 26th November to 7th December 2012 at the National Convention Center in Doha, Qatar.
The UN Climate Change Conference will be attended by government officials, representatives of UN bodies and agencies, governments, intergovernmental organizations civil society organizations and members of the media from various countries. It plays a major role in information exchange, capacity building, policy discussions and global partnership.
Since 2007, Indonesia has played a significant role in climate change leadership and will maintain the position in the future. An Indonesia special event showing progress on climate policies and programs is essential. Such event is expected to increase global partnership and investment on low carbon investment in Indonesia.
This event's goals and objectives are:
To promote Indonesian leadership in low carbon development and adaptation process;
To promote investment opportunities in Indonesia’s low carbon development;
To exchange information between governments, corporations and the international communities in addressing climate change;
To enhance climate change international cooperation.
